The League Has an App Now

That's right. A nineteen-year-old fantasy football league has its own app. Install it to your home screen and try to act surprised.

The Full Story

Let's address the elephant in the room: yes, a sixteen-team dynasty fantasy football league that has existed since 2007 now has its own dedicated app. Not a shared app. Not a link to MFL's mobile site that looks like it was designed for a Blackberry. An actual, installable, icon-on-your-home-screen app, sitting right there between Instagram and whatever meditation app you downloaded in January and opened once. The audacity is not lost on us.

Now, before you start drafting your acceptance speech for the App Store — it's not in the App Store. It's a Progressive Web App, which means you install it straight from your browser. On iPhone, hit the share button and tap "Add to Home Screen." On Android, tap the three-dot menu. On desktop, look for the install icon in Chrome's address bar. No downloads, no updates, no 47 permission requests asking for access to your contacts, camera, and existential dread. It just works.

Here's what the app does right now: it logs you in, remembers who you are for 90 days, defaults every roster page to your team, and highlights your franchise across the site. That's it. That's the app. We built an entire installable application so you could stop scrolling through a dropdown to find your own team. In the future, this is where lineup submissions, free agent bidding, and other MFL actions will live — but for now, it's a very fancy, very persistent bookmark that knows your name. Install it anyway. You know you want to.
