The Mock Draft

Mock drafts in dynasty leagues used to mean either staring at FantasyPros' anonymized rookie pool with eleven strangers who'd disappear by round two, or convincing a group chat of league-mates to all hop on Discord at 9 PM on a Tuesday. The first option is a draft against bots that can't tell Tetairoa McMillan from Drake Maye. The second option is herding cats. Either way you'd burn an hour, get one bad result, and still have no idea what your board actually looks like under pressure.

The Mock Draft lobby lives at /theleague/mock-draft. Pick a timer (1, 3, 10, or 15 seconds — you're not here to think, you're here to stress-test), a round count, and how the AI picks. The board source defaults to your personal Queue from the live draft room, so the AI is genuinely drafting against your rankings instead of some generic ADP soup. You can override per team — give Pigskins your rank, give Cowboy Up the Sleeper board, give Mariachi Ninjas Chaos mode if you want to see what happens when somebody reaches for a punter in the second round. Three presets — All MFL, Mixed boards, Chaos mode — set every team in one click. Your own franchise is highlighted with a YOU badge so the seventeen-row table doesn't blur together. Hit Start Mock Draft and you're in.

Inside the room, only your slot uses the timer. Every other team picks instantly — there's no waiting on an AI to 'think.' If the AI grabs the player you wanted, hit Go Back and the slot reverts; you can rewind as far as you need to and replay from there. Pause if you need to grab a beer, Reset if you want to start fresh with the same settings. The Schefter Report doesn't see any of this — mock picks stay in your sandbox. Old sessions you don't need anymore? Hover any card in Active Sessions and a delete button appears. The rookie draft is coming up soon. This is the rehearsal.
