New Features Now Play Themselves
The homepage hero stopped casting random rookies to pose next to announcements. New features now star in their own banner — a live screenshot in a browser frame that matches your theme — and a player only appears when the story is actually about him.
The Full Story
For months, every time the site shipped something new, the hero banner hired a rookie to stand next to the headline. Nice kid, great cutout, absolutely nothing to do with the feature. Announcing a salary tool? Here’s a rookie. New calendar page? Rookie. It was the fantasy football equivalent of the stock-photo handshake.
The casting department has been reorganized. Feature announcements now show the feature — an actual screenshot of the thing, framed in a little browser window, captured in both light and dark mode so it matches whatever theme you’re running. When an announcement genuinely stars a player, he still gets the full spotlight treatment — cutout, team-color glow, caption chip — but only when he’s the story, never as set dressing. And on phones the screenshot politely bows out (nobody can read a full page squeezed into a hero thumbnail) and the league crest stands in.
The rookies are fine, by the way. They’ve been reassigned to stories about actual rookies — which, it turns out, is the only casting call they ever needed.
