Boom! Bring The Pain came to play this week, and it's not close. League sources tell me they dropped $725K on RB Dameon Pierce, the highest single bid of Week 5, and they added two more claims on top of it for a total of $1.575M. Money is nice, but championships are better, and that's a team trying to win right now. Browse the free agent board and you'll see how much talent was still sitting out there for the taking.
Here's the rest of the week in full: seven claims, $3.275M spent. Pacific Pigskins grabbed TE Chigoziem Okonkwo for $425K, Wascawy Wabbits took PK Blake Grupe at $425K, Cowboy Up added QB Jalon Daniels at $425K, and Music City Mafia brought in WR Darius Cooper at $425K. Every one of those signed at the league-minimum salary, because in this league no pickup is ever free. Want to see where those new names fit on the depth chart? the rosters will tell you before your rivals figure it out.
Bring The Pain also turned to the cheap end of the pool, adding WR Isaiah Williams and RB Will Shipley as first-come-first-served free agents at $425K apiece. That's a smart way to fill depth without torching your budget. If you're trying to figure out whether a $725K bid is an overpay or a steal, the salary benchmarks will settle that argument for you fast.
My grade for the week: Bring The Pain gets the A for aggression and roster coverage. Everyone else played it conservative, and some of those conservative claims are going to look like missed opportunities by Week 7. If you think you can rank these waiver adds better than the rest of the league, your custom rankings board is where you prove it. Keep your eyes on the free agent board, because I'm told the next wave is already forming.
